Employee Relations

The school believes that the work conditions, wages, and benefits it offers to its employees are competitive with those offered by other employers in this area and in this industry.

 

Employment Procedure

  1. The school shall employ persons aged 18 years and above only.

  2. Before any recruitment, advertisement of employment position, promotion, change of position, or replacement, the Head of School must first consult the Director for directives and approval to proceed with the employment procedure. Any employment without prior Director’s approval is void.

  3. In order to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, employment decisions at school will be based on merit, qualifications, performance and the needs of the school. The school does not unlawfully discriminate in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, colour, religion, sex, tribe, age, disability, social status, medical conditions, family care status, or any other basis prohibited by law.

  4. The school will make reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with known disabilities unless doing so would result in an undue hardship to the extent required by law. This policy governs all aspects of employment, including selection, job assignment, compensation, discipline, termination, and access to benefits and training.

  5. The school shall aim at recruiting and retaining the best candidates in its workforce by soliciting application from universities, comprehensive advertising, headhunting, references and or out- sourcing and whenever possible, not less than three candidates shall be shortlisted for each advertised position. Interviews shall be carried out before any employment is formalized. Such interviews shall be conducted in a professional way.

  6. All appointment letters and terms and conditions of service for all new employees in all categories will be approved and signed by or for the Director if they are to be signed by any officer other than the Director himself.

  7. References of all candidates who qualify for employment must reach the school within 60 days from the date they receive employment offer, failure to which the offer shall be withdrawn. Where the positions are very senior and/or sensitive the school may have to use special screening services. Confidential information must be filed and vetted by the Director before letters of appointment are issued.

  8. All appointments shall be subject to the candidate being declared medically fit by a Medical practitioner appointed by the School, to hold the post to which he has been appointed. Letters of engagement will only be issued after satisfactory medical reports have been filed and authorized by the Director for all posts. It is prohibited to intentionally conceal a permanent disease during this examination. If it is proven that a sickness was concealed during examination the employment contract will be terminated forthwith.
